Why Rockefeller chose Acadia to develop over 50 miles of carriage trails? How the great fire of 1947 wiped out half of the town and how it rebuilt?

This 2 hour walking tour will begin at the bench in front of the Abbe Museum. Your local, experienced guide will share highlights and secrets from the Gilded Age, stories of rum running, and tales of the town folk who influenced the development of Bar Harbor as you wend your way throughout the village. Stroll along West Street, where the birth of tourism began in this beautiful coastal town, walk through the cemetery and visit the civil war monument. The tour will end back at the Village Green where we end on a sweet note and treat you to a local dessert.

Maine History Tours donates $1 from the sale of each ticket to a Maine non-profit whose primary purpose is the preservation of history and education.
